This study examines the experiences of female chefs working in professional kitchens facing gender-based discrimination, structural barriers, and cultural prejudices. Culinary culture, historically male-dominated, continues to exist today with an understanding that equates leadership, authority, and physical strength with masculinity. In this context, female chefs are relegated to a secondary position in the kitchen due to both physical conditions and societal perceptions; their career development is limited by invisible barriers such as glass ceilings, glass walls, glass cliffs, and tokenism (Boztepe, 2022; Dağaşan, 2021; İnce, 2016). This study examines the direct forms of discrimination, indirect barriers, and structural factors women face in professional kitchens in a holistic manner. The strategies women chefs develop to address these challenges, using skills such as resilience, leadership, and empathy, are analyzed. Furthermore, the perspectives of male chefs towards their female colleagues are examined, revealing how these views shape gender-based power relations in professional kitchens. The study was conducted using a qualitative compilation method and a comparative analysis of research in national and international literature. These analyses concluded that the presence of women in professional kitchens can be made sustainable not only through individual success but also through institutional and cultural transformation. The resilience and creativity of female chefs hold significant potential for developing inclusive leadership and egalitarian management models in the sector. This study aims to make an academic contribution to the issue of gender equality in gastronomy, increase the professional visibility of female chefs, and raise awareness in the sector. The findings emphasize the need for an egalitarian structure not only for women but also for the entire corporate culture.
